Portland’s Hollywood neighborhood is located in Northeast Portland and is bordered by the Sullivan’s Gulch, Irvington, Alameda, Beaumont-Wilshire and Rose City Park neighborhoods. Named after the venerable Hollywood Theater located in the heart of the neighborhood, Hollywood is built around the thriving cultural district known locally as “downtown Hollywood”.  An eclectic array of shops, grocery stores and bistros line Northeast Sandy Boulevard, providing residents a chance to explore a variety of shopping and dining options without venturing too far from home.

The energetic atmosphere, unique community environment and funky mix of businesses make Hollywood a terrific location for families and singles alike.

At first glance, the Hollywood District (originally known as “Hollyrood” until 1926, when the grand Hollywood Theatre on Northeast Sandy Boulevard opened) might strike a visitor as all business and no-nonsense. It has little of the Bohemian flair found in other popular neighborhoods throughout Portland, and its two main streets (Sandy Blvd. and Northeast Broadway) are relatively high-speed thoroughfares that don’t encourage pause.

Grant Pool offers a fun place for families to gather and cool off on hot days. The large outdoor swimming pool features 25 yards of shallow space for kids and 25 yards of deeper water for experienced swimmers. Grant Park is the neighborhood’s local day park, and the Hollywood Farmers’ Market has quickly become a popular and highly anticipated event taking place on Saturdays from May through October each year.

From stately Old Portland homes with outsized porches to comfortable Bungalows and newly constructed Condos, The Hollywood neighborhood is filled with a broad assortment of styles that appeal to a wide range of tastes.
